Progress update #40

Hello humans! By my cat standards, you’re a bit too fur-less, but I’m sure you’re looking quite handsome today.

Let’s get the important stuff out of the way first: Next month, I’m pausing Patreon payments. I’m aiming to release Chapter 1 in September, and I’ll restart the Patreon then. Next week, I’ll be posting a sneak peek of the game for my Patrons. I’d love for you to try it out and share your thoughts.

Now, onto progress. I've been working on this game for 11 months, and until last month, it was all about posing and rendering. But as we inch closer to finishing Chapter 1, with just under 600 slides in the render queue, I’m diving deeper into the coding side of things. That means branching, setting proper variables, triggering events, free roams, mini-games, interface tweaks, and a whole bunch of other tasks.

I’d love to say I’m super organized with some amazing task management system, but nope! I’m totally winging it. Turns out, I have this rare form of procrastination called precrastination. It’s where you get caught up in organizing your day, making charts, plans, and all that productivity jazz—without actually getting shit done. That’s why I usually steer clear of productivity software.

So, coding… yeah, I’m on it. (I was going to launch into a rant about why typed languages like C# are more complicated but also easier to use compared to Python, but I deleted it to spare you the boredom.)

Chapter 1 is about 70% done, with an estimated 3,000 still images and roughly 2 hours of playtime.

Alright, I should wrap this up before I start procrastinating again. This week, I’ll be posting another explainer about game mechanics, specifically branching, and I’ll be streaming this Friday.

As always, stay safe and entertained, make time for fun, don’t overwork yourselves, and most importantly, be kind to each other.

Stray Paranormal out. Meow! 😸
